Racketball 23/01/2008 - Mens I v David Lloyd (3-1 Win)

The away win against David Lloyd 3-1, means it's 10 winning matches out of 10 for top of the table Leamington.

Here's how the 'Leaming's' got on:-

Dave had the hardest match of the night for a change and rose to the challenge winning 3-1. He lost the first game but then realised that he would need to raise the bar against Richmond, his stylish opponent. Dave put his slippers and wine away and began the 'Flanigan grind' leading his opponent to make many mistakes from his obvious tiredness as the match progressed. 3 straight winning games gave Dave the team an important win against a strong opponent.

Andrew, the Welch Wizard of Diplomacy, carried on his unbeaten run of a maximum 10 wins out of 10 with a reasonably straight forward 3-0 victory against his opponent Troy. Unfortunately Andrew then spoilt his excellent display by then trying to give Paul advice on his match play with the following result:-

Paul lost 3-1 against Phil who although unorthodox with his table tennis shots should not really present a problem to Paul's normal racket play. However easy it is watching though, on court Paul struggled and would admit it was not his best display and that his drop shots need to be a bit lower down the wall (like two feet!), enough said.....

Alan playing at number 1 seed displayed a polished performance and won 3-0 with his opponent Paul unable to cope with his boasts and the 'Holder reverse crosscourt' - well known to all of us. Alan will probably not have a more comfortable game than this all season at no 1 but he made his victory look easy, which is always a good sign.

The only bad thing about our possible promotion is that we will not visit great clubs like this which allow the captain to use the fantastic facilities available and admire the indoor scenery.

Next Wednesday's match (30th) is Priory at home who were third in the league.

Team is :-

1. Jeremy
2. Alan
3. Paul
4. Andrew

Paul has offered to do the food and carrots have been banned.

Regards
John
