Members came together to beat the winter blues in a night of music and entertainment. Teams of 6 people enjoyed the quiz, drinks and samosas!

General Knowledge Quiz 19 May 2017

A full house for 2017’s general knowledge quiz at the Club organised by Quiz Masters Guy and Penny Graham.  Thanks to Mark Godfrey for organising the music round. Members enjoyed fish and chips from Cubbington Plaice – quizzing is hungry work!

Beer Festival – September 30 2017

As ever, a great choice of beers, ciders and perry were enjoyed by members and their guests. Despite the rain, festival-goers also enjoyed the music of Free Galaxy, Rainbow Trout and Paper Planes.  Thanks to Dafferns Chartered Accountants LLP for sponsoring the beer glasses.

Gin Evening – October 14 2017

This was a highly popular and successful evening during which four different artisan gins were sampled, either neat or with tonic water. The accompanying talk given by the Little Gin Company was interesting and informative, giving us all a good insight into the origins of gin and how it is made.

Poker Night – November 18 2017

Members enjoyed a competitive evening of poker with Club Coach, Tony Pillinger.

Festive fun hog roast – Friday 15th December

As the Squash Club held their 2017 Championships and the Tennis Club enjoyed their final club night of the year, a team of caterers cooked a hog roast with all the trimmings to enjoy after the sporting action. A fantastic evening of festive fun!

Poker evening 19 November

Members enjoyed a competitive evening of poker with Club Coach, Tony Pillinger.  The winner of the trophy was Nick George.

A night of Simon’s very enjoyable piano playing, and lots of banter between pianist and audience.

8th Annual Beer Festival 24 September

This year the stillage, usually hired in, was built by a team led by Rob Farey.  A good choice of beers, ciders and perry meant the customers were happy, and many enjoyed the funny and musical ‘The Ken & Ben Experience’ out on the patio on a warm evening.  Thanks to Gohil & Grey for sponsoring the beer glasses, and to Lemming Brewery for donating one cask and a pin.

Golf Competition 24 August

The competition had been postponed from June due to poor weather.  Our new venue, Stoneleigh Golf Club, was a great success and everyone enjoyed the competition/supper.  Thank you to Guy, our non-playing organiser.

Summer Sizzler 02 Jul 2016

The 2016 Olympic Games started early at LLT&SC with rowing, bleep test, welly wanging, squash archery, service shoot out and football shoot out events taking place yesterday afternoon. Well done to all the competitors, young and old, who fought hard for a place in the Olympic history books. A big thank you to Grand Poohbah, Rob Farey, for his superb vision for the Games, and for building the football set. Thank you to the Team Leaders who organised referees for each event – Laura Holder Cale, Tony Pillinger, Simon & Angela Brown, Mark Joy, Jason Pike, Rob Farey and Clare Blenkinsop; to our Chief Scorer Kieran Barber and to the PA operator Mark Godfrey.

A fantastic evening sampling our favourites, wine and cheese, supplied by One Square Warwick.  Thanks to Jan Randall for organising this event which was attended by 33 members and their guests.

General Knowledge Quiz 23 April 2016

8 teams lined up for the general knowledge quiz at the Club organised by Quiz Master Guy Graham.  The opening round was to name different cheeses and a wine, and this was following by a picture round, a music round and several general knowledge rounds.  The winning team was Janette and Nick George, Laura and Dan Cale and two visitors.  Well done them and everyone was very impressed with their music round score of 28/30!  Thanks to Penny Baines for scoring and organising the wine & chees round; to Mark Godfrey for organising the music round; to Kieran Barber for taking the entries; to Cubbington Plaice for the fish and chips at half time.  A great night at the Club.

Spicy Jazz 07 April 2016

A fabulous night of jazz from the band, with Bob Jackson (vocals, trombone), Zoltan Sagi (clarinet, sax), Mike Kemp (piano), Steve Kershaw (bass) and Dougie Wright (drums).  A top class performance from the quintet and we hope they will return to the Club next year.

Mega Event 18 Dec

Thanks to Nichola and James for selling mulled wine and mince pies with profits/donations of £56.09 shared between the Encephalitis Society and the British Heart Foundation. Dylan Pillinger on piano teamed up with his sister on vocals for an impromptu performance to prove that the Pillinger household is not only good at tennis and poker but music too! Simon Ballard took over the piano later and provided entertainment with a selection of piano pieces for the rest of the evening.

Rugby World Cup 2015

The 2015 Rugby World Cup series was shown on the Club’s big screen, and proved very popular until the home nations were knocked out!

Thanks to the Social Committee for donating funds to purchase the projector, screen and sound bar. We hope they’ll be well used by members and coaches, and the instructions for use can be found to the rhs of the tv. Any programmes you wish to see featured as an event, please let us know.

7th Annual Beer Festival 12 Sept 2015

A big thank you to the team for putting on the 7th Annual Beer Festival on 12 Sept 2015: the social committee of Kieran, Pamela, Rob, Gordon, Nichola, Mary, Cheryl and Helen plus our real ale expert Andrew. Andrew was responsible for building the stillage (with help from Alan and Jeremy) to hold the casks as well as choosing the beers. Thanks to Cheryl and the Club’s staff for their hard work, Mark for his music and the volunteers for help, before and on the day. We couldn’t have done it without your help. We had 12 beers, 2 ciders and 1 perry to sample, and plenty of samosas to keep us going.

As ever, top billing in our Social Calendar!
The range of questions, topics and difficulty were as challenging as ever, disputes over potential bonus points well-controlled and the special set were very funny!

Thanks to Mark Godfrey and Clive Campton for the quiz…the excellent table service from barmen Nigel and Kevin…The very popular hotdogs from Cheryl Taylor and everyone else who helped. A great time was had by all!

Sports Quiz 17 Jan 2015

Thank you to Quiz Master Brian Hatfield for running the first Sports Quiz at the Club. There were 9 teams in a packed clubhouse, and Brian had chosen to focus on the wonderful year of sport of 2014. The questions covered many sports and required much thought to answer. The Quartet team of Alison, Ben and Andy Farr & Clare Blenkinsop (when she wasn’t cooking the hot dogs!) were the winners. Thanks to Mark, Clive, Neil and Ming for their support.
