Latest match report

Leamington Thirds got off to a great start for the 2016/17 winter season.
Fresh from summer leagues and training, Andrew Thomas and Rob Nussey took to the courts first.
Andrew’s first game was close, both players starting positively with Andrew narrowly losing the first 9-11 in a tie breaker. Andrew quickly adapted his game sweeping the next two games aside 11-3 then 11-5. His opponent began tiring in the fourth and Andrew launched himself to a 11-2 win, taking the match.
Rob, like wise, was keen for a good start to the season. Playing dominating and unrelenting squash, he swept aside his opponent in less than 30 mins losing only 9 points in total.
With a good cushion (I don’t mean his athletic figure!), Mike Abbott took to the court. The first game was close both players seeking to attack lose balls. After losing the first narrowly 9-11, Mike his back taking the second game 11-6 using subtle changes of pace. However, Mike was unable to stay in front of his opponent who raised his game taking the third and final games 3-11 and 6-11.
Emilio Schweighart Gate looked confident on court; both he and his opponent started at a fast pace. The first was close with Emilio taking it 11-9. In the second and third, Emilio seemed to have an answer and didn’t look troubled. With some great competitive rallies, Emilio comfortably took the second and third games losing only 11 points in the process.
Dan Haggarty, our rising star at the club, started with a commanding performance taking the first game 11-6 with his tenacious play. Despite a vociferous opponent Dan kept his cool and using some deft touch took the second. He held off a late challenge in third to take the match 11-9.
Victory: 4-1!
