Tennis History

Our club is acknowledged to be the first lawn tennis club, established in 1872. We are delighted that Scott H Tomkins, the great-grandson of one of the founders, has maintained the link with this heritage by presenting a trophy for an annual mixed doubles tournament. This is known as the Arthur Wellesley Tomkins Trophy.

In 1998 the Club was voted both National Club of the year and also Warwickshire Club of the year. These awards were received because of the range of activities available at the Club and also because the club has set up a successful Community Tennis Partnership.

In 2006 we were awarded the recognition as a County Performance Club due to the individualised training programme on offer for juniors.

Tennis Facilities

There are 8 artificial grass tennis courts (Courts 1-8). Courts 1-5 are floodlit. Courts 1-5 were resurfaced in August 2006.
There are 4 porous acrylic tennis courts (Courts 9-12). Courts 9-12 are floodlit. There is a practice wall at the end of court 9.
